A Facility Born Out of Collective Effort
Zhashagiins Event Center is located in the old Fourwinds building built in 1973. The local tribal council and the village discussed what to do with the structure after it was vacated in 2017. Due to its prime location and the community-driven need, they decided to turn it into the rental space that it is today — a sprawling 400-person capacity facility for the entire community.
The event center is a proud establishment owned and operated by the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin. Derived from the Ojibwe language, Zhashagiins (pronounced “ZHA-SUG-EENZ”) is the traditional word for the area where present-day Siren is located. Its meaning, “the place with the little herons,” captures the essence of our surroundings. This name was submitted by a respected St. Croix Tribal Elder during a naming contest and was ultimately chosen as the winner by our Tribal Membership through a voting process. Now, the event space is open for community gatherings and private events. Anyone is welcome to host special celebrations, hire caterers and take advantage of the many amenities in store.
